Meet the Nominees

President — Dr. David Violette (VFA #1976)

Dr. David Bruce Violette Jr. (P6672) was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, to David Sr. and Nancy (Gagnon) Violette. He graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology before earning his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. He subsequently completed a surgical residency and a fellowship in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Boston University.

For more than a decade, David has practiced medicine, first in Virginia and now in Greenville, South Carolina. He is married to Jennifer (Yarmchuk) Violette, and they have two children, Emily and Dylan. David has served on several community boards and committees, as well as in various medical societies.

In the late 2000s, David made a quiet pilgrimage to Van Buren, Maine, to trace his family roots—a trip he hopes to take with his children someday. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, entertaining, and spending time with his family and pets.

Vice President — Peter R. Violette (VFA #1793)

Peter served as the Association’s Secretary from 2020 to 2023 and is now running for re-election as Vice President. He also served as the Association’s Genealogist and Historian from 2020 to 2026 and will continue in those roles. Outside the Association, he has served on his community’s Board of Directors.

A retired U.S. Marine Corps officer, Peter went on to a second career with several defense industry companies, most recently spending 16 years with General Dynamics. He authored the Association’s research report on Francois Violet’s Missing Years: 1758–1769 and has written several family histories.

Peter was born and raised in Littleton, Maine, just outside Houlton. He and his wife, Elizabeth Paradis, now live at Lake Anna, Virginia, where he stays busy with home projects and helping the Violette Family Association.

Treasurer — Paul L. Violette (VFA #1589)

Paul is an original member of the Violette Family Association, he attended the first VFA reunion in Methuen, Massachusetts, in 1978, when he was 12 years old. He has attended eight VFA reunions in total.

Paul previously served three terms as Treasurer (2005–2011 and 2020–2023) and one term as Vice President (2011–2014). He is pleased to be running for Treasurer again.

Paul lives in St. Louis, Missouri.

Secretary — Michelle Daley Archambault (VFA #1989)

Michelle Archambault is the granddaughter of Pierrette Anna (Annie) Violette. Her mother, Rita (Dubois) Daley, served on the VFA Board from 1996 to 2002.

Michelle attended the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a degree in Computer Science. She has worked in software development for more than 30 years. She is married to Robert Archambault, and they have three children: Kyle, Keely, and Sadie.

Michelle helped build the Association’s first member database while her mother served as VFA Secretary. She has also served on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations and maintained their websites.

Michelle lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts.

New officers. No reunion.

New officers

Our officers for the 2020-2023 period were elected as of the Triennial Meeting on September 12, 2020. Balloting was done with a combination of mailed-in paper ballots and electronic voting. The votes were unanimous for the slate listed in the most recent newsletter. They are:

David A. Violette, VFA #621, Phoenix AZ, President (re-elected)
Richard G. Violette, VFA #1812, Columbia MD, Vice President
Paul L. Violette, VFA #1589, St Louis MO, Treasurer
Peter R. Violette, VFA #1793, Mineral VA, Secretary

Peter R. Violette is also our new Genealogist.

No reunion

We have no volunteers to host a Reunion, so there are no plans for one.

The next regular date for a Reunion would be 2023, so there is plenty of time for folks to get together and do the planning for it. Contact any of the officers if you would like to host one or if you have questions about doing so.
