  Island Falls, Maine - Annie L. (Violette) Townsend R.N., 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 31, 2025. Annie was born on October 12, 1933, in Patten, ME to John Dennis and Ruth (Carr) Violette. Annie graduated from Patten Academy and the Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor, ME, where she earned her R.N. nursing degree in 1952. Post graduation, Annie worked at the Milliken Memorial Hospital in Island Falls as the operating room and emergency room nurse as well as doing general nursing until the hospital closed in 1974. She was director of nursing when the hospital closed in 1974. After the hospital closed she and three other nurses worked on the Island Falls Ambulance Service for four years. She also taught a nursing aid course while continuing to work at the Medical Center until her full retirement from nursing in 1984. She married Wallace Townsend Jr. of Island Falls on June 07, 1958 and they enjoyed fifty years together and raised three sons; Jeffrey, Tracy and Garth. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Tracy and Jean, and Garth and Angie of Island Falls; a brother, Alton Violette of Patten; five grandchildren, Jason and Rachael Townsend, Garth Townsend Jr., Amy and Jim Magill; five great-grandchildren, Breyauna, Joseph, Emma, Rae-Lynn and Reagan; and several nieces and nephews, including her special niece Patty Violette of Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Wallace, three brothers; John and Freeman Violette of Massachusetts, and Frank Violette of Benedicta, ME, her son Jeffrey and his wife Jacquline, and her granddaughter April.
